3-Day Fly-In Safari: Central & Northern Serengeti
Skip the long drives and fly straight into the heart of the Serengeti for three days of big cats, vast plains and, in season, the Mara River crossings.
The classic northern-circuit safari: Tarangire’s elephants, two nights on the endless Serengeti plains and a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater.
If you only do one safari in Tanzania, make it this one. In five days you visit three of Africa’s greatest wildlife areas, each completely different from the last.
Begin among the baobabs and elephant herds of Tarangire, continue across the Ngorongoro highlands to the vast Serengeti, and finish with a game drive on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater — one of the best places on earth to see the Big Five in a single day.
After an early pick-up in Arusha, drive about two hours to Tarangire. Spend the day exploring the park’s river valley, home to huge elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and excellent birdlife.
Drive up through the lush Ngorongoro highlands, with a stop at the crater viewpoint, then descend to the Serengeti plains. Game drive en route to your camp in the Central Serengeti.
A full day following the wildlife across the plains — lion prides on the kopjes, cheetah on the hunt and, depending on the season, the herds of the Great Migration. Hot picnic lunch in the bush.
Morning game drive in the Serengeti, then drive back to the Ngorongoro highlands. Optional visit to Olduvai Gorge, the “Cradle of Mankind”, on the way.
Descend 600 metres into the crater for a morning game drive among lions, buffalo, hippos, flamingos and the rare black rhino. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool, then drive back to Arusha.
